Yincognito wrote: October 7th, 2024, 12:26 pm Hey, jsmorley, I have a curious problem when I try to register on their site (so I can post a support topic here): the form asks me to "sort" some software components required for the phpBB installation in the "correct" order... except that I have no idea what that order is:
phpBB Registration.jpg
I think I'll let someone with phpBB knowledge to report these issues, cause I don't know what order this form is expecting from me (now THAT's a good captcha, lol) - the report contents should simply be what's between : and . in my previous post and posssbly mentioning forum.rainmeter.net for potential testing purposes, nothing out of the ordinary.
I'll take a look at it. We installed phpBB about 20 years ago, so I certainly don't remember that order off the top of my head... ;-)

Not that good if the info is available online..
2. Requirements
phpBB 3.3.x has a few requirements which must be met before you are able to install and use it.

A webserver or web hosting account running on any major Operating System with support for PHP
A SQL database system, one of:
MySQL 4.1.3 or above (MySQLi required)
MariaDB 5.1 or above
PostgreSQL 8.3+
SQLite 3.6.15+
MS SQL Server 2000 or above (via ODBC or the native adapter)
Oracle
PHP 7.2.0+ up to and including PHP 8.3 with support for the database you intend to use.
The following PHP modules are required:
json
mbstring
XML support
getimagesize() function must be enabled.
Presence of the following modules within PHP will provide access to additional features, but they are not required:
zlib Compression support
Remote FTP support
GD Support
If your server or hosting account does not meet the requirements above then you will be unable to install phpBB 3.3.

So, not required are:

zlib Compression support
Remote FTP support
GD Support

Indeed, good find - thanks!
Nice - looks like you already have a reply from the author! ;-)
Side note: always preferred vanilla Javascript over jQuery though. :)

That fixed the issue for me on MS Edge!
No need to click or refresh, the mode switches and updates immediately. 8-)

I'll take a look at it on desktop Chrome when I get back to my laptop, and will update this post accordingly. Thanks! :rosegift:

I decided for another reply instead of editing the previous post, so you can easily be notified about it (I went back to Default on chrome://flags for this test).

On my phone's Samsung Internet Browser (1): Works great, it switches modes as expected.
On my laptop's Google Chrome (2): Works great, it switches modes as expected (see the note below though).

Note for (2): Duplicating a tab where the page is on Dark Mode will result in the page from the duplicate be on Light Mode initially. So, the page in the duplicate tab will again need to be refreshed to return to the Dark Mode as the original tab was set to.
