Rainmeter error message

Whenever I try to install a Rainmeter skin I get this error: 'Unable to locate Rainmeter. Rainstaller.exe needs to be in the \Addons\Rainstaller\ folder.'

I have always changed the default document location in Rainmeter (from C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Rainmeter) by using the 'Edit Settings' feature but since Version 2(I think?) I have had this error and haven't been able to use the program.

I have tried uninstalling\reinstalling but I still get the problem.

What else could I try?

And see if that doesn't clear up whatever is giving it trouble.

That error is not from Rainmeter, but from Rainstaller (the .rmskin package installer). Are you sure you're running Rainmeter.exe and not Rainstaller.exe?

Right-click the Rainmeter tray icon -> About -> Version. Click on the "Copy to clipboard" button and paste contents here.

Also, open regedit (press the WIN + R, type in regedit, then press OK). Browse to the following key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Rainmeter skin\shell\open\command

There should be a path on the right-side. Double-click on that, copy, and paste here.
