[3.2] Monstercat Visualizer with dynamic color!

Post by liec0dez »

I made some tweaks to MarcoPixel's original Monstercat Visualizer, found here:

With this pack you are able to influence the visualizer's color by changing the release year of the song like following:

Code: Select all

Year Monstercat Genre Color RGB
1900 EDM Grey 193,193,193
1901 Electro Yellow 230,206,0
1902 Future Bass Light Blue 154,152,252
1903 Trap Dark Red 140,15,39
1904 House Orange 234,140,0
1905 Drumstep Pink 243,33,136
1906 Drum & Bass Red 242,25,4
1907 Glitch Hop Dark Green 11,151,87
1908 Nu Disco Aqua 28,171,179
1909 Hard Dance Green 1,151,0
1910 Trance Blue 0,126,231
1911 Dubstep Magenta 141,4,225
So if you have a Dubstep song, change it's year to 1911 and the visualizer will recognize.
You can change all colors in the variables.ini for costumization.

Step 1:
Download and install the .rmskin file from here:
http://fav.me/d8b6af8

Step 2:
Take some minutes to customize the color for each of your songs :)

Thanks to balala and fanpaolo for helping me to solve issues in the process^^
Feedback is welcome (however, this is my first ever Rainmeter project :P)

We we prefer that all skins here be in the .rmskin format, not a .zip file that has to be manually installed. Aside from the relative simplicity for the end-user, there are security issues with propagating Rainmeter skins as .zip, which won't have the protections against modifications by bad actors that .rmskin has.

http://docs.rainmeter.net/manual/publishing-skins

If you want to have your skin be an "upgrade/patch" to an existing skin, that can also be done:

http://docs.rainmeter.net/tips/advanced-rmskin-options

No hair-on-fire rush, but please create a .rmskin of your creation and replace the .zip in this post.

I tried, but the .rmskin file is 1,52 MB large which is too big to upload here... gives me a "413 Request Entity Too Large" Error :(

You may want to post your .rmskin on deviantART then, and just post a link to it here. Be sure you give proper credit on deviantART if your work is a derivative of other's.

If you would rather not do deviantART, you could always just host the .rmskin file on some file hosting site (or stick it in your DropBox, Google Drive or Windows OneDrive) and post a link here.

Now, that I see your release, it is an interesting idea! Congratulations for both: the idea of a this kind of skin, and the realisation, which also is great! I'm also happy if my posts helped you in your work.
So, once again congratulations and keep your way!
