This is an interesting topic and creates an interesting idea of porting to Linux.
The reasoning behind apart from open source would be a good move, the light file size and system opportunities for mods means that it would be great for creating skins for areas like cars, where you need custermisations but low file size.
Would be great to see this running on raspberry PI.

Re: Linux/Raspberry Pi Verson?????
I can't speak for the developers as for a Linux port, but if you want something similar on Linux that already exsists install the "Conky" package. I have my Conky Skin setup almost exactly like my Rainmeter skin.
Hope that helps.
Note to Forum Mods/Devs - You may want to Sticky a "Linux" statement somewhere. Just a thought.
