Need help

can anyone suggest where can a 'Rainmeter User' get help; bcoz this forum seems like the place for only contributors and the ones with technical knowledge.

ask away.....

very likely some one knows the answer....{likely, several know, several different answers, and you can pick the best for you}

...and many people turn into contributors....<after they create, or change a skin to their personal need/want/desire/taste>...that is the appeal of rainmeter....customizing things the way YOU WANT them to be....

about the only no-no around here, is asking someone to MAKE it FOR you.....

hello Mr.Sadistic
thanx for the kind response :)

my main problem is with using WebPraser plugin. i am not able to use any of the skins which involve its use. hence no weather for me, no rss feeds, no pics of the day.... :-(
while looking for the solution, i came across WebPraser Tester and its giving me a red light.
i am using Avast antivirus and MBAM on my system. but i dont think these must be causing the problem. i disabled them and then tried the skins but of no use.
when using any of the weather skins, i get the message :
WebPraser.dll: (1628) the system cannot find the file specified. (Error code=2) ;
Bang: incorrect number of arguements ;
and several other messages.

do you have any idea what could be causing the problem?

thanx in advance

Chances are that you have some "proxy" setting in Internet Explorer. You have two ways to solve this:

1) Open Internet Explorer and under "internet options" set any proxy settings to "none".

2) If you are using the latest Rainmeter 2.5 from http://rainmeter.net, you can edit any skins using WebParser, and add the line ProxyServer=None to the WebParser measures in the skin(s).

hello Mr jsmorley
thanx for taking your time out to help me :)

i am using google chrome as my browser. i hope thats not a problem with Rainmeter. this could be a stupid question, but i just wanted to confirm.
anyhow, i checked my LAN settings but there is no proxy server used.

i am using Rainmeter- 2.5.0 beta r1808 64-bit (Mar 5 2013).
i tried to edit 'Speed-weather skin' by adding 'ProxyServer=None' , as suggested by you. but got the same error message. though i must admit i could not figure out as to where exactly to put the line 'ProxyServer=None'. but i edited the skin as mentioned below. can you plz. check it?

[Rainmeter]

ProxyServer=none

[Today]
Measure=Plugin
Plugin=Plugins\WebParser.dll
UpdateRate=3000

Another doubt i have is: its mentioned in the link,
http://docs.rainmeter.net/manual/plugins/webparser#ProxyServer
"this option can also be set in the Rainmeter.data file. If set there, it will be used as the global setting for all WebParser measures unless overridden in an individual measure(s)"
when i checked the Rainmeter.data file, its empty in my case. is that ok?

sorry for the long post.
thanx a lot for caring to help.

Just to be sure, get an install the LATEST beta from http://rainmeter.net. Then edit that WebParser "tester" skin:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4991063/WebParserTest.rmskin

Change this measure to add the "ProxyServer=None" line to it.

[MeasureWebParser]
Measure=Plugin
Plugin=Plugins\WebParser.dll
URL=http://Rainmeter.net/WebParserTest.html
RegExp="(?siU)<1>(.*)</1>"
StringIndex=1
UpdateRate=10
ProxyServer=/None

Now save and load that skin.

What error message(s) do you get in the Rainmeter log?

@JSMorley

Is there a "typo" in the ProxyServer documentation, or are you missing the "/" character?
... from ProxyServer documentation ...
Examples: ProxyServer=/none

No, I missed it in the post above. Thanks for catching that.
