Hello, bonjour, and sorry for approximate english...
Today I had to install the last verson of rainmeter : the lua Calendar gadget requires it...
But avira found TR/ATRAPS.GEN in the rainmeter folder!!!!!
So I asked avira to through this atrap to a quarantaine : and rainmeter won't work anymore.
Please tell me more about this unpleasant surprise

Re: getting TR/ATRAPS.GEN virus installing beta version on X
Assuming you downloaded Rainmeter from http://rainmeter.net, It is a false positive and can be ignored.

Re: getting TR/ATRAPS.GEN virus installing beta version on X
Thanks,
but why is it so ? The 2.4 version I re-installed did not contain this trojan.
And when I try to install a new skin this windows appears :
yet it is a two years old skin...

then I installed the 2.5.0 (closed avira before) beta version and my antivirus now still ask me to delete the trojan...

Re: getting TR/ATRAPS.GEN virus installing beta version on X
As jsmorley suggested, this is a false positive.
Here are the results of the current beta (r1808): https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/74fdaa76a6d6e99ba7a549115947759c909232015009d02e292b4d2278d056bb/analysis/1362506844/
I don't use Avira, but if you could make a "exception" so that Rainmeter will install, that would be the best course of action. Maybe this could help you?

Re: getting TR/ATRAPS.GEN virus installing beta version on X
Avira is getting a false positive, which is not all that unusual given the fast changing nature of viruses and antivirus software. You should simply be able to tell Avira to "ignore" the Rainmeter folder or whatever particular file it is flagging.jufi wrote:then I installed the 2.5.0 (closed avira before) beta version and my antivirus now still ask me to delete the trojan...

Thanks,
but I tried what you say : doesn't work
I took the older version;
Do you know an agenda (matching google) for rainmeter, so that I could see on my desk the future events of the week, or day ?

Re: getting TR/ATRAPS.GEN virus installing beta version on X
I have the same problem. With rc1758 ist startet with the Avira-Message mentioned above. I wrote a mail to Avira, they said "False/Positive" and after 1 or 2 days i can start Rainmeter rc1758 as all the previous version without a problem.
But all the next versions are said to have that virus in them (on XP only). On my private XP-PC i told Avira to ignore rainmeter.exe and everything was "ok" since then.
On my PC at the office (still XP) i am not able to define an exception for Avira so i still have to use rc1758 at the office

I've sent yet another false positive report to Avira.
