Can't install onto windows 8

I am trying to install rainmeter 2.5 onto Windows 8 but every time it installs it gives me the error: "Visual C++ x64 install failed with error code resolving hostname." And then advises for me to manually download C++. I manually downloaded C++2012 and 2010 and after doing so I still get the error. Any known solutions or suggestions? Thank you

Have you tried uninstalling Rainmeter, and reinstalling Rainmeter?

Have you installed all of the Windows 8 updates?
