Maximum # of characters in InputText plugin

I'd like to see a feature that limits the number of characters you can put into a text box. A text box that changes the transparency of an image would only need a maximum of 3 characters, a number between 0 and 255.

On another note, more limitations on input in general. IE - Only numbers, Only letters, etc.
