It's not just chance. One can always estimate what the others' hands are based on what hand he has, the known cards on the table, how much others bet, the way they do it and how certain he is of that. Besides anticipating these, the skill is making the most out of any such situation with minimal losses (if any). You can win big even if your hand is crap, but it takes serious skill (and guts) to do it.
