Nothing works! help!

Post by Matamoros »

i am very new to rainmeter, and a bit of help would be much appreciated. every time i download a new skin from deviant art, i can never access it. i have the skins in the right location but i am wondering why they wont start. the location i have saved them to is C:\Users\Morgan\Documents\Rainmeter\Skins
this location seems not to be the correct one because i cant make any skins load.
Thanks in advance!

Have you restarted Rainmeter?
Have you actually loaded the skin?
Have you gone and browsed the skin to verify rainmeter picks them up using rainbrowser?
I have three rules when I'm trying to help you.
  • Don't get mad when you don't understand something
  • Be VERY specific with what you ask for.
The more specific you are, the higher the quality of support you receive.
  • Do not just copy and paste what I put in examples and come back saying it doesn't work.
It does work, but I purposely left blanks that you need to fill for your specific needs.

i have not browsed the skins or actually loaded them. all i have been able to do with them is extract them into the folder which many websites deem correct. :/

Have you restarted rainmeter? You must restart rainmeter every time you install a new skin. And a lot of people don't fill in metadata for rainbrowser, so not seeing a lot of that info is common.

So, you've placed the skins in My documents\Rainmeter\Skins\SomeSubFolderName, yes?
And the files are SkinName.ini?
Can you see them when you right click the tray icon -> Configs -> SomeSubFolderName ?
If you can, just click on it.
If you can't there is some error somewhere which is most likely very simple given that you know what to look for.
Might help to get on IRC in the morning if you can't get it to work.
I don't think, therefore I'm not.
