Rainmeter Not Working

Post by DuriX »

Hi! So I just recently just downloaded rainmeter and now its not working. First I got an error saying that there were no skins. After searching online and downloading & Installing the skin, It still said there were no skins, but i forgot to give it file access. After that, it stopped working, it would launch, I checked in Task Manager, it was running, but it was just not there, like all of the code was gone. I tried everything, Booting into safe mode, checking the files, doing a fresh reinstall, and installing a older version.

Information:

Rainmeter version: 4.5.20
OS: Windows 11 Home

One important thing:

I have an app that redesigns UI, it's called Seelen UI, I tried opening it without it, and it still didnt work.

I'm not sure what you have going on, but what I suggest is that you:

1) Turn off that "Controlled Folder Access" feature in Windows
OR
1) Leave it on, but give access to a couple of Rainmeter programs.
a) C:\Program Files\Rainmeter\Rainmeter.exe
b) C:\Program Files\Rainmeter\SkinInstaller.exe

How to "whitelist" programs is explained here:

https://www.howtogeek.com/329532/how-to-protect-your-files-from-ransomware-with-windows-defenders-controlled-folder-access/

Then re-install Rainmeter.
