Can one use a newer version of Lua?

Post by jn_meter »

Hi all

I have Lua version 5.4 installed on my computer. I think that Lua 5.1 is bundled with Rainmeter. Can I get Rainmeter to use Lua 5.4?

(I did try searching the forum for an answer, but since the search engine ignores the word 'lua', so doing is hard.)

No. Lua is compiled directly as part of Rainmeter, so this would require the devs to update the Lua source code to that version.

SilverAzide: thank you for the information. I must wait, then, for Rainmeter to bump its version of Lua (or else hope that Rainmeter starts to bundle Lua in a more modular fashion). Still, I have no pressing need for Rainmeter to use Lua 5.4.

It will never happen or most likely not happen any time soon as last time they upgraded LUA every script broke
