This seems to be working with the Spotify WebPlayer. I can see the timer. But I can't get it to work with Spotify Desktop Player. According to your post, you mentioned an option 2a. That's what I really want to use, since I don't actually use the web player. I use desktop. But hey, at least it works with the webplayer, so know that I have the plugin installed at least haha. I see it in the plugin list.
Thanks for at least helping to get that working. Is there anyway to get it to work with the Desktop Player?
On windows 10 or 11: Use mondtholomew and install v2.0.3 of the WebNowPlaying plugin, it will automatically work with the desktop player unless you turned "Show desktop overlay when using media keys" off in Spotify settings.
On anything lower than Windows 10 you'll have to install Spicetify enable the webnowplaying.js extension.

I had the media keys turned off because I don't like how it looks, I turned them on.. and yesss it works. I see the timer with the desktop playing. BUT... the numbers are all over the place... it doesn't properly count up. it minutes/seconds kinda skip all over the place. if that makes sense (music plays normally). Is that how it is? or can that be fixed?

Thank you
How much does it skip? It might flip a second every 5 or so seconds since I have to approximate the progress because Windows only gives me an update every ~5 seconds.

Its super crazy, skips whole minutes. Skips forward, then backward. It's pretty unusable lol

Sounds odd, is it fighting with another Player? Do you perhaps have the spotify website open as well? Or do you have spicetify installed (it might fight with >2.0.0) ?
Edit: If the spotify website is open it syncs the desktop player's state to the website and then the browser extension reads from that, which might cause the skipping.

Nope, no other player is open. I disabled the webnowplaying extention on the browser just in case too. Though nothing is open on the browser. No spicetify installed either. I have no idea why its happening. I really appreciate all your help though and for replying. Never had luck with this. At least it does techinically work lol. But yeah, its kinda not great to use when its such a huge skip. 5 seconds would have been okay.
Thank you though.

This has nothing to do with luck. Unfortunately I can't replicate this right now.
Restarting your computer might help.

If you'd like to stop trying to fix this issue please tell me directly.
I don't mind helping you further, I also see no reason why this can't be fixed.
