Hello! I am new to Rainmeter, please don't judge me. Anyways I scanned "Rainmeter-4.5.12.exe" with virustotal, and it got two flags.

I wanted to ask what is it? And if it's safe? Thank you!

Yes it's completely safe. Also it's opensource, so you can build it yourself if you got trust issues, though I wouldn't recommend going that far

Welll, it is just two false-positives from non-major anti-virus softwares.

No. Nothing.

In my experience, the false positives are being generated by inaccurate virus detection in those scanners, or a desire by those scanners to make you think they are better, because they found something the others didn't.

False positive triggers are not uncommon, but unless one of the major scanner software (Norton, Symantec, etc.) detect a problem, the likelihood that they missed it, while a relatively unknown scanner says it found something is a moot point.

In any case Rainmeter is totally virus-free.

Indeed. Well, BitDefender isn't a minor player in the AV market, but it's true that going exclusively on machine learning for its Theta version has some drawbacks compared to its main version. Personally, until the so called "AI" isn't a true Artificial Intelligence able to think and learn like a human does, all these "machine learning" or "AI assisted" stuff are more of a marketing strategy than real effective tools in all situations.

As for the trusted AVs, I only have two, with varying degrees of trust that I place in them: ESET NOD32 (95% trust level, given my experience and its track record) and Kaspersky (75% trust level, given its location, origin and events it has been involved in). Norton / Symantec was ok in the DOS days on the part of file managing, but as an AV I had a not so great experience a long time ago with it, so I never used it again. McAfee and Microsoft don't exist for me either.

If you have it scan the actual URL it's clean if you download it and scan the file it's not
