Yeah, I'm an old broke dog and, due to some ongoing technical problems, I'd been unable to open either Npp or Visual Code so I did download Sublime Text and have been using it ever since. I tried yet again to reinstall Npp (which I prefer because figuring out how to do things is a lot easier for me) and finally got it to open but I'm keeping Sublime Text in its free version JIC. Excuse my tilt on this, but I think you might find that SublimeText3 has all of the features, syntax highlighting, user defined jump/fold points but versioning has not to my knowledge removed any features as the builds progress.
