Actually, I re-installed JRiver.

Yep, probably some registry keys of the program were messed up (or, you had a "portable" edition installed before, that never added the keys to the registry). It shouldn't have affected the path setting itself, but who knows, maybe the NowPlaying measure relies on such registry keys to set things up for various players...
