Windows Custom Skins not working anymore

Hey folks,
maybe you have an idea what I'm doing wrong or what has gone wrong -
I wanted to apply a custom, downloaded style for Windows 7 ..
But it aint working right, not matter which one I use.
The problem is, that it always when I select the "new" skin, it changes back to "standart", ie Win98look with SOME of the style elements (as color and fonts) changed.
..
Is this a known problem after anything I did wrong?
Or do you guys are as speechless about this as I am?

I'll try patching my Uxtheme etc for my Win7 when I'm back home - let see if thats the problem, because it already worked before my near-crashing of the system.

By the way, to patch the uxtheme in Windows 7 you should use the UniversalThemePatcher.
