I also leave my system running 24/7. My nightly Acronis backup happens at 2am while I'm asleep, I want my FTP server to be available whether I'm home or not, and I do subscribe to the idea that it is harder on electronics to turn them on and off than it is to leave them running. In 30 years, I have never turned off a PC on purpose, unless it is to replace a part.
When does a light bulb burn out? 99.9% of the time it is just as you turn it on. When does your car stop working? It's generally not as you are driving on the highway, it's when you go to start it in the morning.
Inertia is one of the most powerful forces in the world. It is far and away harder to get a wheel to start turning than it is to keep it turning...
