Hey Guys,
it would be really nice if you could update/change your RM icon of rainmeter.net. I have a shortcut on my mobile phone (Sony Xperia P/ Android 4.1.2) to the rainmeter forum for 2 years and it is a little bit ugly on my homescreen ;)
It seems that the icon is a little bit too small or something else.
On the attached picture there are the shortcut and two other shortcuts for comparing.

Re: Resolution of the RM sites icon
I assume that android is using favicon.ico from the site that is used by a browser when it creates that "bookmark" shortcut. I have updated that icon to contain other resolutions in addition to 16X16 (which is what a browser needs), see if that makes any difference when you create a shortcut on your home screen.
Really though, I think with most versions of android you can hold-select the shortcut bookmark icon on your home screen and set any image for it you want...

Re: Resolution of the RM sites icon
First, thanks jsmorley.
It took some time and trial and error, but after I deleted the chache, cookies of the browser and recreated the bookmark I can see now a difference. It's a little bit better (not so pixelated), but still too small. See the picture.
Now i recreated the bookmark to the forum, too. But it's still the old icon. Did you only changed the icon of the main site? What resolution does the icon now have?
EDIT: Now I tried a Topic bookmark (for testing) like http://rainmeter.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=19934 and with this bookmark I get no icon on my homescreen...
So bookmark to:
main site - better icon
view new posts - pixelated icon
Strange..
a topic - no icon

Unfortunately not at this mobile phone, it's 2-3 years old :/jsmorley wrote:Really though, I think with most versions of android you can hold-select the shortcut bookmark icon on your home screen and set any image for it you want...

Re: Resolution of the RM sites icon
Yeah, I only replaced the favicon on the main site, but will do the others later today.
There is not specific "resolution", as it is a .ico file with multiple resolutions in it. Which resolution in the .ico file any give application uses is sorta up to it...

Can you add higher resolutions to the ico file, like 64x64, 128x128, 256x256?

Re: Resolution of the RM sites icon
as far as i know Android uses iOS specific icons (PNGs), as long as they are available.
i suggested that a while ago: http://rainmeter.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16114
