Loading Skins in Rainmeter

Post by Stasoft »

Good day All

I am very new to Rainmeter, so please excuse if this is a silly question what I am about to ask.
When I load a skin in Rainmeter, what I see on my desktop is still my old desktop icons + the newly loaded Rainmeter skin. Is this normal?
I was expecting that when I load a skin, the only thing I would see is the newly loaded skin and that my "old" windows desktop + icons would have been removed.
Is this normal behavior or am I doing something wrong?

I appreciate any feedback and thank you for such a great product.

This is normal behavior. Typically if you see someone whose desktop is lacking icons it usually means they have other software hiding it or they have removed them altogether in favor of using Rainmeter skins to launch their applications instead.

So yes, long story short, this is typical and expected behavior.

You can hide the desktop Icons by right clicking any place on your desktop move you mouse to "View" and left click "Show desktop Icons". If they are already visible then a check mark will appear to the left of Show desktop Icons if they are set to hidden then the check mark will not be visible. To make them visible again just left click "Show desktop Icons" again.
