Abend on Startup

Post by DAL »

Hi everyone,

I'm a brand new user (or am trying to be), but when I start Rainmeter it refuses to start. I did have it running with the default skin once, but since that first time it will not load.
Windows 7 Home Premium, 8 Gigs, Quad processor etc....

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Have you installed ANY skins from other sources? If so, it could well be that one of them is misbehaving. You can edit Rainmeter.ini in C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\Rainmeter and change all Active= options in that setting file to Active=0. Then see if Rainmeter starts and you can access the Manage panel from the Rainmeter tray icon.

If so, then start loading the skins you were using, until it crashes and fails to start. That is the offending skin...

If not, then I would suggest:

1) http://rainmeter.net/redist/
2) http://docs.rainmeter.net/tips/clean-rainmeter-uninstall

Editing that .ini file did the trick. I did indeed have a new skin (only one, obtained from DeviantArt) and when I set all it's Active states to zero it fixed the problem.

Thank you!

Glad to help. Be interested in which skin caused the issue.
