.NET x86 install failed with error code 4122

The error code corresponds with a description from the Microsoft website that reads: "The product does not support installing on the detected operating system type"

Indeed, I understand that as I have a 64-bit version of Windows. Nonetheless, the installation insists that I am running a 32-bit one.

I have installed everything that I could from http://rainmeter.net/redist/ with everything working except the 32-bit version of the .NET redistributable package... which makes sense as I'm running a 64- bit version of Windows. Any help?

Not version 2.5 or the latest 3.0 beta. I am currently running an archaic version of Rainmeter however (1.1) and am trying to update it.

i think you should uninstall the old version first (make a backup of your skins folder).

Well that did the trick in allowing me to attempt an installation of the 64-bit version of the .NET redistributable package. However, I'm receiving another error: 4123.

This website (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2005/12/07/501381.aspx) tells me that that error corresponds to the fact that I already have it installed.

Attempting to use the install the .NET redistributable package from http://rainmeter.net/redist/ tells me that I already have it installed as a part of my OS. Now what?

after you uninstalled your outdated (probably 32-bit) version of Rainmeter, can you install Rainmeter now?

sorry. no idea then. try to reboot, if it still insists on installing .NET, try to uninstall the already existing .NET install on your computer. can't help you more here. hope somebody else will.
