I've read some of the manual for Rainmeter and the website.
From what I've read it appears Rainmeter is developed through creating .ini files within a directory structure and there are many other things that can be achieved by interacting with Windows. That's as far as I got!
I can't find anywhere that gives clear simple instructions of how to configure Rainmeter to modify my desktop.
As a start I wanted to create a way of grouping desktop icons so the groups can be created, named, resized and have icons put into them.
Please can someone point me in the right direction?

Re: Getting Started?
I would also take a look at this: http://rainmeter.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=15957 I suggest this one, since your description of what you want to do with Rainmeter is just about exactly everything that it doesn't do...

Re: Getting Started?
I see now that getting Rainmeter to functionally interact with Windows is not what it is intended to do.
In my defence I did Google for "windows desktop group icons" and Rainmeter seemed the best from the first link I was presented with. My mistake!
Suppose I'll try the StarDock Fences product instead.
Thanks anyway.
