Would you be willing to Beta Test Google Wave

Post by sgtevmckay »

I am not going to tell all of you that I have an invitation, because I don't :(

But an opportunity may present itself in the future, and I would have as many folks on board as possible.
To that end the invite may come with an agreement to test and document Google Wave?
Since we are a community of code builders and Beta testers, I can think of no better place to test Google Wave than in a development community.

For those who want more information on Google Wave, this video was the public introduction:

So what say you?

If yes: why?
In no: Why Not?

Let us all know what your thoughts are ;)

Voted: No.
Why?
I'm not all that interested in google wave and haven't paid much attention to it. And, as far as i've read, it just seems to be like IRC but with integrated teamspeak...
I don't think, therefore I'm not.

Voted: Yes
Why?: It was described to me as a live svn using email and text messaging. And I have no real qualms about being given a program and just running it into the ground. (At my school there are often people in cs/imgd with projects they ask people to test.) I haven't really gotten any look at it and I'm not sure what in the end it's going to change but hey it seems nifty.

Sure, I think it will be fun to use it to collaborate on Rainmeter skins.

I don't even know what exactly Wave is :D

If it's really like IRC with Teamspeak, I wouldn't test it even if I had an invitation.
For such things I got Skype.

Whow... That seemed really annoying. :x
A group editing the same document at the same time. Flame-wars at a whole new level! :D

It also seem strangly like jabber and a *nix program, if I remember correctly, namned write....

But thanks for the info!

no i will not use it. google already has a track record of allowing the government free access to gmail accounts and anything attached to them. while i am not doing anything wrong, i just dont like the idea of further intrusion.
