Back-Up?

Post by Bear »

Hi, I'll be getting a new PC entirely shortly and I'm wondering how I can back-up my rainmeter as such so I can put it across to the new PC with the skins and settings as it is now on my current PC.

I've tried the search function and proved to not be of help.

The only important folders are:

Skins:

Windows 8/7/Vista: C:\Users\YourName\Documents\Rainmeter\Skins
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\My Documents\Rainmeter\Skins

Settings:

Windows 8/7/Vista: C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\Rainmeter
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\Application Data\Rainmeter

If you back up those two folders and put them back in the new environment after you install the Rainmeter application from http://rainmeter.net, you will be back as you were.

You can also get your specific folder locations by right-clicking the Rainmeter notification area icon, and selecting "About / Version". It will show you the folders on your system.

And if you just need to back up a specific skin (maybe something you're working on) you can create an RMSKIN, and that will contain all of the data you need for a backup, including the layout and plugins.
