Rainmeter for a single user

Post by floppehwalrus »

Hi guys,

I practically just found out about rain meter and I'm wondering how to install a skin for just one single user (if it's possible)

A step by step method on how to do so would be good

Thanks guys

Start here..

.. and then read this.

...after that, you could choose what other skins to download by browsing those on Deviant Art.

To answer the question, Rainmeter skins are normally installed only for the current user. Skins are stored in your Documents folder (C:\Users\YourName\Documents\Rainmeter\Skins).

Along with Mordasius's links above, you might want to look at this Step-by-Step Guide

You sure it will be only assigned to one user?

Yes, I'm sure. :) The only cases in which other users would be affected are:
  1. Rainmeter is installed as a portable application, which means the Skins folder would be shared by all users.
  2. A user changes their SkinPath setting to use the same Skins folder as another user.
If you don't do either of these things, then each user's Skins folder will be kept completely separate, and new skins will be installed only to the current user's folder.
