Help needed with 1st skin

Post by nut88 »

Im new at this as you can see and i would like to have some advices or help.
I don't really know where to start, but this is what im trying to achieve. Simple weather skin, or what ever you wanna call it.

Yeah, it's in finnish but don't let it bother you.

Is there some scripts available where i could start ?

Thank you.

All weather skins use the Webparser.dll to get info from the web using RegExp...
I would recommend starting by looking at these:

Rainmeter Support: http://rainmeter.net/cms/Support

and

Webparser: http://rainmeter.net/cms/Plugins-WebParser

I'd start by looking through the various weather skins on deviantart and choosing one that looks similar to what you are aiming for. They will give you an idea on how to design your regular expression and how to use webparser. Most people either parse the yahoo weather service (which is free for personal use but only gives you forecasts for today and tomorrow) or the old weather.com service (which could stop working any time and is kind of a little illegal to use but provides up to 10 day forecasts).

See here for rainmeter skins on deviantart: http://browse.deviantart.com/customization/skins/sysmonitor/rainmeter/
