After a bit of troubleshooting, I discovered I had a file called Location.inc under @Resources
containing:
[Variables]
IPAd=
Country=
Location=
Latitude=0000
Longitude=0000
Deleting it, did the trick: Location Finder is working from the GUI.
dunno where this file was coming from.
It does not explain while your solution did not work, I might have missed something.
I noticed LocationFinder.ini used to be called WeatherComLocationFinder.ini
but as the French like to say: "Let's not be more royalist than the king"
It is working after all.

Can't recall if the file was part of the original package, but its contents makes sense, probably being used to store the location details. If the file was never modified and its values were used in your skin instead of the ones in Variables.inc, that could explain the issue you had.
