"unknown software exception" (0xc000001d) at position 0x100319d8

xp sp3

last release which works:

Can you confirm that 2.4 r1611 works, but 2.4 r1613 does not?

yes, that's correct!
1611 works und 1613 and following releases do not work.

Do any of your skins use the Registry measure? If so, could you post the relevant Registry measure sections here.

Also, could you try the following:
- Close Rainmeter
- Rename %APPDATA%\Rainmeter\Rainmeter.ini to e.g. RainmeterOld.ini
- Install 2.4 r1613 and run Rainmeter

Does Rainmeter crash when you start it? If not, try loading the skins you had active one by one until Rainmeter crashes. Once you've identified the skin in question, post the name of the skin.

Renamed all Rainmeter folders (program folder, appdata folder with layouts, documents folder with skins to ...old) then I made a complete fresh install of Rainmeter 2.4 r1613. Rainmeter crashes immediately after start. The loaded skins are the default ones (illustro).
After this I installed 2.4 r1611 and it works again.

Found the reason why rainmeter crashes after Release 2.4 r1611 with XP SP3.
I used alternate shell "Emerge Desktop".
After changing shell back to Explorer, Rainmeter 2.4 installs and runs without error :)
