I've tried installing several different skins, but none work for me. I've tried reinstalling Rainmeter as well.

Issue installing skins
Hello, fairly new to Rainmeter. Anytime I try to install a skin by running a .rmskin file, I get this error:
I am using Windows Vista Home Premium, and the most recent release of RainMeter on the homepage.
I've tried installing several different skins, but none work for me. I've tried reinstalling Rainmeter as well.

Re: Issue installing skins
To ask the obvious question: what version of Windows are you running?

Wow, terribly sorry. I usually don't leave out details like that. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium, and the most recent release of RainMeter on the homepage.Kaelri wrote:To ask the obvious question: what version of Windows are you running?

Re: Issue installing skins
Could you link a few skins you've tried to install?

Re: Issue installing skins
The author of Link 3 has set Windows 7 to be a requirement (although the skins will work perfectly fine on XP/Vista). Blame the author
As to the others, they should work perfectly fine. Can you confirm that Link 1, for example, does not work?

I tried that one before, but it didn't work. But it's working now. I may have skipped over it or something. Thanks. How do I know if the skin is compatible with my version of windows? As to the others, they should work perfectly fine. Can you confirm that Link 1, for example, does not work?

Re: Issue installing skins
I looked at it (Link 3) and it doesn't seem to use any Windows 7 specific features. You can request the author to reupload the package with Windows requirement set to XP (or you can manually extract the .rmskin file and install it yourself).Byus wrote:I tried that one before, but it didn't work.
