New and trying to figure this out!

Just found this fancy program and got pretty excited about it. Now I'm trying to figure out how to make it work for me.

Any suggestions on threads or tutorials on how to make custom skins from the ground up (want to make an 'interactive wallpaper' instead of a 'desktop') that I don't need a CS degree to understand? I'm still reading through all the intro stuff on the main site as well so, hopefully, I'll be able to understand how it works soon.
