help from the first step!

Post by 4lieNFr3aK »

hey every1... i really need help with lots of things :/

for starters,I found this really COOL desktop on deviantart :
http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=&section=&q=customized+desktop&loggedin=1#/d2gdjct

What I don't know is:

-how to use a different taskbar than the windows 7 original one (particularly this one on the screenshot)?
-how to make links of the texts on the desktop(what is the procedure,where to type what etc.,and also how to make them in different colors?
-how to add the winamp(i think it of winamp) controls on the middle down bars?

that is it for now,and I will surely have other questions later...
thank You in advance for the kind help...
Boban.

As a general statement, you need a custom UxTheme.dll and find custom themes for the different taskbar.

Very simply:
[meterText]
Meter=String
Text=Some Words
FontColor=000000
LeftMouseUpAction=!Execute [!Bang]

Search for WinAmp skins.

Make any .ini file, and you just need
[Rainmeter]

then that section a couple lines down.

I suggest reading Rainmeter 101

Link stuff - http://rainmeter.net/cms/Meters-String

Windows 7 themes - http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Windows+7+custom+themes
Changing the tasbar is in no way related to Rainmeter, although the themes may match.

is there,an site,gallery of rainmeter skins,besides this one :http://customize.org/rainmeter/skins?page=1 ?

and yes,about the links... if " fontcolor " is lets say 028374 ... how can i find other codes for colors... cuz i use Gimp,and in gimp the format is like this : 23h5ks2 ...
so how?:)

Chances are it's a whole new theme - not just a taskbar.

Here's another Rainmeter group - http://groups.deviantart.com/?qh=&section=groups&q=rainmeter
Not every skin is in the group, so do some searching around.

Very simply, color is in RGB(A) format, from 0-255. (Alpha is optional)
That is Red, Green, Blue, (Alpha). (Alpha is transparency, 0 being fully transparent, 255 being fully opaque.)
The more common use of colors that I see is something like 255,47,12,200.
That's very easy to tell which color has what value, and you have a lot of control with it.
Personally, my coding background was allll in html (oh gosh, how I use to love myspace...) and I use hexadecimal which is a 16 digit base number system. (0-9,A-F. A is 10, B is 11, etc...)
Same format, RGB(A). But there's no commas, just two digits for any value. 00 is 0 and FF is 255. You multiply the values.
More details: http://rainmeter.net/cms/Meters-ColorCodes_beta
JSMorley has a few color picker addons floating around... I'd search around for those.
