Authenticating a proxy

Post by mrbaggins »

Well, A search for this showed up a year old thread that had stagnated. Hoping there's a solution out there now that has either resolved this issue or has a workaround.

At work, I have an authenticated proxy for http/https. I set the address in Internet Explorer and the port number, and when I go to websites I get a dialog asking for username and password.

Similarly, the Win7 Widgets down the side of my screen pick up the proxy info from the IE settings and pop up a box asking for the password.

Unfortunately, this doesn't happen with Rainmeter. I get no prompt, no error message, and no information downloaded. I've tried having IE open at the same time, I've tried forcing netsh winhttp settings to the proxy, but rainmeter makes no allowance for the dialog to appear.

This is really annoying, as I would like to use this program on my work laptop. Ideally I could lock the settings in the ini file so that it doesn't ask for them.

Is this problem fixed nowadays? Or is it a planned addition? Or is it just a case of too bad for those that are stuck behind a proxy?
