Using windows 7 my background changes a lot through a variety of different backgrounds.
What I'm looking for is a way to coat text in another colour much like the outlining text tool (Text < Blending options < Stroke) in photoshop or even the highlight tool found in MS Word.
The problem I have is if I have black text on a black background, I can't see it, if I have a white background I can't see white text, and intermediates of grey are too hard to see.
My solution so far has been to create a back drop to the text as just a block of slightly transparent white, but the problem with this is that as the text changes letter or number, it changes size, so it looks silly as either going past the backdrop or there is a large blank spot on the backdrop which doesnt look as nice.
Advice will be greatly received!

Re: Highlighting text?
You could try
StringEffect=BORDER
FontEffectColor=xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx
On the string meter(s)
This will put a border around the text in the color defined in FontEffectColor

Are you using AntiAlias=1 on your string meters?

Re: Highlighting text?
I was looking for a solution for this same exact problem. I decided to make a rss reader from the rss tutorial and try to figure out how the background worked in that to fix my skin. After making the reader, it opened and this link was the only thing in the window, problem solved in a sort of "Rube Goldberg" sort of way, hahaha.
