Weather skin with webparser no longer works

Post by Tiffany »

There was a thread awhile back... https://forum.rainmeter.net/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=34461

I requested a skin be updated after wxdata was deprecated and jsmorley added one that uses some kind of webparser, I think. Well... it stopped working like 5 days ago and just says "Tomorrow" now.

It was LargeCleanWeather. I think this might also be it?

I tried clearing IE's cache & refreshing the skin 3x. I repeated that about 20 times before giving up on it. I don't even use IE so it's weird rainmeter does...

Anyway, I don't know why that thread was deleted. Maybe the cache clearing thing doesn't work with webparser skins?

It is always a problem with Deviant Art. They won't let me download any skin without registering. But i don't want that. Is there ANY weather skin you could recommend, that is working and available without any kind of registration?

I have to say though, that creating an entirely free account on deviantART isn't the most onerous thing you will ever do.

Thanks, i will have a look into it. Yes, you're right, but on the other hand i have tons of registrations for very minor stuff. I will consider it, though.

With the current state of weather skins, I'd be tempted to always start here:

https://forum.rainmeter.net/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=34689

Check to be sure that either 1) The skin uses weather.com and has a 🟢 symbol next to it confirming that it currently works, or 2) The skin uses some other source than weather.com.

Then download using the link there. Now mind you, that link may in fact go to deviantART, but in my view that is fine.

If you just search for "weather" on deviantART, I would guess that today more than half of them won't work.

I give up. Can't get the first two skins to work, i can't change the location. Descrition says, i should use "choose location", but there is no such menu item. Can't align the skin to the left side either. :(

That was the skin that broke in the first place. I tried it anyway. The result, all of Rainmeter is broken now. It starts for about 2 seconds, then crashes. I can't even get into the menu to try to fix anything.
