I've been setting up the "Neon Space" skin, and there are a lot of cool widgets and things to mess with. One of them is a music player. I, like very many people, like to use VLC Media Player to listen to music, watch video files, etc. but Neon Space doesn't have included functionality for VLC, and it doesn't appear to be customizable (that's a word, right?). This is not the first time I've come across this problem and probably won't be the last if I can't solve this problem. Does anybody know how I can set up the audio player to work with VLC?

Re: VLC Functionality for Neon Space?
These are the two most used "media player" plugins in Rainmeter:Dignalrump wrote: ↑March 15th, 2020, 10:49 pm I've been setting up the "Neon Space" skin, and there are a lot of cool widgets and things to mess with. - NowPlaying (this was a plugin, now it's a measure)
- WebNowPlaying (a newer plugin, handles web players)
As you can see, there is no direct VLC support in either. But then, as DVO implied, it was possible to make NowPlaying and VLC work together in the older VLC versions, by using a plugin (I guess it's this one here) and setting the PlayerName option in NowPlaying to CAD. Newer versions of VLC apparently moved away from the general http authentication that allowed for an easy way to obtain the information by NowPlaying, so you have 3 solutions:
- change your media (or just music) player to one that's supported by NowPlaying
- downgrade your VLC to a version under the one suggested by DVO (2.15)
- look for a "VLC plugin" (if VLC has such things) that can do what you need, without involving Rainmeter or Neon Space in the process
Of course, the first 2 options require that you modify the skin accordingly (unless you choose a music play already integrated into "Neon Space").
