First time I hear about Litestep, but from the looks of it, it seems it indeed shares some very interesting similarities with Rainmeter...
Your WIP looks nice too, minimal, like mine. For me it was a challenge to include the amount of information, features and flexibility that my skins can provide in such a small amount of space, LOL. Thankfully, scrolling and tooltips on hover helped a lot with that, and I'm really happy with the results.
As an example, I didn't have to blur my IP, as it is shown only on hover, along with other additional stuff on every existing network on my computer.
