Laging skins

Post by Derenaya »

So, I used these instructions here (https://www.reddit.com/r/Rainmeter/comments/4qvaly/how_to_make_glowingpulsing_backgrounds/) to improve my wallpaper. I used it with a music equalizer (https://alatsombath.deviantart.com/art/Fountain-of-Colors-desktop-music-visualizer-518894563) and everything worked fine.

However, after I changed my screens (2x) from a 1920x1080 resolution to 2560x1440p I'm not able to use the glowing effect anymore, because the glowing doesn't really work (basically it just lags) as it did on the old resolution and it makes the equalizer lag aswell... Every other skin I used works fine, just not the glowing, doesn't matter how big the area is. CPU power shouldn't be a problem, even with the laggy glowing the CPU uses only 20%.

I tried to downscale my resolution (just for the sake of trying) to 1080p, but that also did't solve the problem.

So my question(s) now, is there anything I can do? Is the bigger resolution really the problem here? Can you suggest a workaround? For the sake of testing I opened a second Rainmeter instance in Sandboxie (https://www.sandboxie.com/) and let the glowing skin run in there and it did work great. The only problem is, that I would need to setup Sandboxie manually everytime I start the PC, which isn't great...

First post so if it's in the wrong section, sorry, just move it. And sorry if someone already asked this question, I could't find anything similar with the search.
