[SOLVED] FreeDiskSpace and 3TB HDD

Post by nmdelrio »

I replaced one of my auxiliary 2TB HDDS withone of 3TB capacity.

How FreeDiskSpace no longer shows the free, used, capacity.

The 3TB HDD has a GPT GUID Partition Table to access the full 3TB capacity.

Is what I am encountering is because of Windows' 2.2TB limit?

Has anyone encountered the same? Is there a workaround/fix?

Thanks in advance.

Free and total capacity are displayed for my GPT volume of 6TB capacity using FreeDiskSpace measure with no problem. Strange...

Thanks for your reply. I found out that it was the driver letter in the coding that was the problem.

Initially, when I formatted the 3TB drive, I plugged it in as the 7th drive, with a drive letter I. I unplugged it to replace the 6th drive (2TB) which has a drive letter H.

I assumed that the new 3TB would take the drive letter H, but it RETAINED drive letter I. I didn't noticed in File Explorer that its still drive letter I.

So all is well now. It's been a few years since I swapped HDDs. And I'm getting too old I guess. :-(
