Rainmeter 1.1 Release

Post by Deus »

Are there any Releasenotes for Rainmeter v1.1?

If they are somewhere and I didn't even find them, they should be placed more obvious!
Maybe below the Downloadlinks.

Kind Regards, Deus

The release notes are integrated in the built-in help in Rainmeter. You can just right click the system tray icon and say "Help" and there they are, under "History".

They are also in the online manual at http://rainmeter.net/cms/Support which is a primary link at the top of every page on the main site.

They are also specially featured, as we wanted to make them VERY prominent, under "Read more" on the main "Rainmeter 1.1 is now available" article on the home page.

They are also in the online version of the help maintained as a single file for easy searching in your browser at http://rainmeter.net/manual.htm

I would have flown over your house in my Cessna 172 towing a huge banner with them, but I wasn't sure where you live. ;)

First big thx to jsmorley. The Historysection was very helpful!

But I think I've to explain my problem with the Releasenotes and why a Cessna 172 is not nessessary ;)

1. A built-in help is not very helpful to make a desicion whether an update is nessessary for me or not.

2. I'm an IT-Professional so I daily read many posts, mailinglists or documentations from developers. Because of that I think I'm quite experienced in finding some Documentations. And if I can't find some they must be "hidden" very well  Not the mention how long an "unexperienced" user whould search...
I think a little section below a huge documentation is not the right place for Releasenotes, especially for Majorreleases.

In my opinion it's some kind of a good "style" to ship Releasenotes in the Download-Package, a link in the announcement (now I found the link... shame on me) and a link right below the Download.

Just some suggestions :rose:

Thx Deus
