SSL and CloudFlare

poiru » October 15th, 2015, 8:20 am

forum.rainmeter.net is now served using the CloudFlare CDN to improve page load performance.

Additionally, we've enabled SSL through CloudFlare. This means that the traffic between your browser and CloudFlare (and between CloudFlare and our origin server) is encrypted.

Hey, have you already gotten the SSL cert for RM->CF? If not I'd like to point out that Cloudflare works fine with a self-signed certificate. It's one of the things they explicitly state so that more people can use SSL on their sites.

If so, well it can't hurt to let others know about this :3

No, not yet. I'm aware of the possibility of using a self-signed cert, but we haven't gotten around to it yet. (It's more about enabling SNI on the server rather than the cert itself.)

Ah, I see. What software do you use? IIRC Apache has it enabled by default, but IDK about any others...
