New improved Rainmeter 101

Post by jsmorley »

Alex2539 and I have been working on a new and hopefully improved version of Rainmeter 101, as a place for users new to Rainmeter to go to get "the basics" under their belt. Rainmeter 101 is now available directly on the main Rainmeter.net site.

http://rainmeter.net/cms/Rainmeter101

In particular I wanted to thank Alex for the really great "Tutorial Skins" he is adding. He has a couple done so far, and they are really well made and easy to follow. The intent was and is to create tutorials which would start with a very simple "measure / meter" skin to introduce the concepts and how to create a skin, then move on to more functional skins to demonstrate the strengths of Rainmeter while moving in a graduated way from simple to complex so users are not overwhelmed.

We welcome any feedback on the new addition to the site.

JSMorley has done a really good job revamping all of the standard 101 pages so far, and it seems that every time i turn around, another page is marked as "updated" or "new". Also, I still have a minimum of two more tutorial skins left in my belt, with a possibility of one for those complicated features nobody really uses. I think by the time we're done with this, we should have a solid resource for newcomers.

Hey.
I don't think that it's worth for opening a new topic, so I just gonna post it here:
http://rainmeter.net/cms/Meters. There it says that GradientAngle is defined in radians, but it isn't. It's defined in degrees.
The same goes for the help file that comes along with the download of Rainmeter.

That cost me really much time to find out
