Way to connect to Google Drive, Onedrive, Dropbox, etc.?
After searching with Google and on these forums, I am convinced that there isn't anything that integrates Rainmeter with a method of monitoring cloud storage services (such as those listed in the subject). But I thought I would ask. Maybe someone in this forum is better at Google Fu than I am or just happens to know of something that works. It would be cool to monitor my cloud storage set against the current storage limit for that service. Anyone?

Re: Way to connect to Google Drive, Onedrive, Dropbox, etc.?
I highly doubt it, since any connection to that information over the web is going to require you to be logged into your account in Google, DropBox, Microsoft, whatever, and WebParser doesn't do any authentication other than using a URL that will allow HTTP authentication with the ID and password embedded in the URL. I doubt any of these vendors are going to open up your account information through something as insecure as HTTP authentication. But hey, you never know, give it a go...

Most of those services offer a way to have access to your cloud content on your local machine. My OneDrive and DropBox both have local folders that are synced with my cloud; for me they are located at '%USERPROFILE%\OneDrive' and '%USERPROFILE%\DropBox' folders.DJ_ones wrote:After searching with Google and on these forums, I am convinced that there isn't anything that integrates Rainmeter with a method of monitoring cloud storage services (such as those listed in the subject). I haven't done this with GoogleDrive (because they want 'worldwide rights' to all content for eternity ), but I know they offer a similar program.
You can use the Filview plugin to read those folders and return the information you want. You do not need to authenticate because they are already in your profile.
Here is a skin I made showing those 2 folders on my system and the size is shown at the mid-bottom. You already know how much space the service is giving you, and this shows how much space is used. My code is spread out through 30 various files, and uses addon executable files (that antivirus scanners usually frown on), so posting an example isn't really possible. But you can see by the image, it is possible to do. Just not that simple (right Brian? )
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

You can use odrive to get this done in Google Drive using that same principle (Creating a folder with synced content on your computer) I believe.
Not sure exactly how well it will work for you though, but I believe it can handle almost any cloud storage.
(Didn't link because I don't have many posts and don't want to seem like a bot, but a simple google will get you there)

Don't suppose someone has a complete example of this?
I have a very simple implementation that shows three skins - time/date, system (cpu, etc), and six disks.
Thanks!

You can use the example code on the FileView manual page to create skins for either One Drive or Google Drive that will view the sync folders on your computer.jgsailor wrote:Don't suppose someone has a complete example of this?

In order to have a link to those special folders, you would need to create a shortcut to each then use the target as the #Path# variable in the skins.
Here is a the example skin for Google Drive (it uses the environment variable %UserName% so it should work with out modification, if you have google Drive installed). To use with One Drive simply change the Path variable; Path=C:\Users\%UserName%\OneDrive
Code: Select all
