It's going to be a library or some MS update screwing with it I suspect. Will experiment on my laptop in the week and see if it also has same issue.

If it's another computer, I suppose you won't have problems. But let me know how it's working.

After our discussion, this is as I thought. If you'll find out what's happening, please let me know.

Win 10 x64 is fully up-to-date via Windows Updates.
Motherboard, graphics card etc also up-to-date.
Re-installed Rainmeter, and backlight plugin, Rainmeter still crashes.
Repaired Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Rainmeter crashes.

Are there any other supporting files I could try to replace, refresh or remove?

Sorry for responding you so late, and the skin code you pasted works well on my laptop.
Do you mean the Backlight plugin may crash just because the difference of the skins?
I have no idea why the Backlight plugin crashes, but I'm trying to make the plugin better.
By the way, are you using a laptop ?

PC was crashing, laptop was not. Eventually I gave up trying to fix it, several Win10 fast ring releases later it started working again... :o

Yo. Just wanted to let you know that I have been using this plugin for a while now and it's great. Thanks a lot!

I'll be adding your name and a link to your deviantart page in the credits section of my suite.

Assume this is an issue with monitor or screen type, any idea on how to investigate this further?

I think you can write Showlog=1 to get more information.

By the way, recently I found that if I want to change the backlight of one desktop monitor, the skin would better be on that monitor.

I've worked to initialize all the monitors once when the plugin is loaded, but can't solve this problem yet.
