MediaKey measure almost useless?

Post by rokihuki »

Im not sure if im missing something here, but the MediaKey and media keys in general work on active windows (i guess a "duh" moment). However...
By using the measure with a mouse click based skin (like the rest 90% of skins), that skin gets active and the mediaKey is essentially sending the keystroke to the skin window and not the intended window.

Is there a way to prevent some skins or some meters/measures to focus its window when interacted with? That would be awesome.

Yeah, I really think MediaKey is only good for volume and mute, which are not something that gets sent to a particular window. To control tracks and pause/stop and all that, I think NowPlaying is probably a better bet, although to be honest I don't use any of this.

These can be done with the Win7Audio plugin as well. As far as I can tell, MediaKey is too rarely used. Probably would be a idea to deprecate it into one of the next releases. Am I wrong?

There are not any specific plans to deprecate MediaKey.

Was just a thought it could be. Me personally never used it. In fact I had to check the Help to be sure it even exists.

Unlike Win7Audio plugin, when using MediaKey to control volume it will show small widget in windows 10.
But with Win7Audio you have more options to control volume.
MediaKey is very useful when using Groove Music, as NowPlaying does nor support it. It will also show widget.

MediaKey doesn't require active window, it usually depends how it is implemented on player you use.
And IIRC chromium-based browser also support mediakey.
