Yahoo Weather - Connection Error

Post by Rickmc »

Started this morning, Wednesday March 14, 2018, Weather shows as "Connection Error - Try again in a couple of seconds".

Tried different zipcodes, same results. Tried rebooting, same results.

I am using 4.2 beta. Anyone else having this issue?

My weather skin is working perfectly. What weather data feed are you using? Also where are you getting that error message, in the log?

EDIT: Sorry fonpaolo, you beat me...

This is the error from the log file:

NOTE (16:42:08.064) Win10 Widgets\Weather\Weather-ExtraLarge.ini: Refreshing skin
NOTE (16:42:08.118) Win10 Widgets\Weather\Weather-ExtraLarge.ini: Retrieving weather...
NOTE (16:42:08.232) Win10 Widgets\Weather\Weather-ExtraLarge.ini: Retrieving weather...
ERRO (16:42:08.268) Win10 Widgets\Weather\Weather-ExtraLarge.ini - [MeasureWeather]: RegExp matching error (-1)

I believe the skin is called Win10 Widgets?

The main problem seems to be that the skin uses a URL to get the current location (http://ipinfo.io/postal, through the [MeasureZipCode] measure). But this URL seem now unavailable. If it is unavalable, the skin can't set the URL needed by the WebParser measure which should get the weather data, because the [MeasureZipCode] measure sets dynamically this URL. I think will have to wait, to see if the above site will be restarted. If it will, probably the skin will start working as well.

In the meantime you can try out some other weather skins. There are tons of such skins, both on the Share Your Creations section of this forum, or on DeviantArt. Examples:
https://forum.rainmeter.net/viewtopic.php?p=145695#p145695
https://forum.rainmeter.net/viewtopic.php?p=145666#p145666
or
https://www.deviantart.com/art/Thumby-Weather-Rainmeter-156374620
https://www.deviantart.com/art/Simple-Weather-for-rainmeter-197990049
Check any of them, to see if it's working (I suppose all or at least the majority of them will).

Thank you balala!

As you predicted, the url must have been reinstated because the skin is now showing the weather again.

I am seeing this now.

Here is the error message: "(Fetch error) The server name or address could not be resolved (ErrorCode=12007) (Win10 Widgets\Weather\Weather-Small.ini - [MeasureWeather])"

What do I do?

First try to restart Rainmeter. I mean completely restart it (close it, clicking its icon in the Notification area and click Exit, then restart it from the Start menu). Does it work now?
