Spent a lot of time experimenting with roundline slices, circles, images (rainmeter & .pngs) to make the rotary knob functional (it already works fine as a volume indicator).

I finally gave up with the experiments and used transparent squares as covered previously, they are not ideal, but none of the alternatives work at all, this is what they look like before I removed the colours which I used to see where I was dropping them, gives a good idea of the 'clickable' area. I use the same technique on media player track jumps and volume controls... 8-)
