⭐ Weather Skins

As you may be aware, the free and open version of the API service wxdata that is used in many if not most weather skins in Rainmeter is currently, and probably permanently, down. This means that you are here because your weather skin has stopped working, and you want to know what you can do.

First and foremost, it probably won't do much good to post a thread on the forums saying "My weather skin XXXX has stopped working, what do I need to change in it to get it working again?" The answer to that starts with "You will need to almost entirely re-write it", and ends with "No, we won't do it for you."

What I will do is provide a list of links here to skins that already used another source for the data, or have been re-written to work without wxdata.

I will try to keep the list current.

If you have a skin that you have, or know of, that you are sure still works, and want it included in this list, please send me a PM (private message) with a link to the skin. I will edit this post to add it.

DO NOT send me a PM for any other help with your current weather skin. I will absolutely just delete it without even reading it or responding in any way. I don't, and won't, provide any help on these forums except in public threads.

If you edit a skin created by someone else in order to get it working, this is perfectly fine as long as the original skin is not identified as being restricted for editing and distributing. Most Rainmeter skins are not. If you DO want to link to a skin you have changed / corrected, be sure your skin gives appropriate credit to the original author, and that you distribute your skin with a license like:

Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial-Share Alike 3.0

Note: Skins that use as a source The Weather Channel will be marked with a symbol when it is verified that they are updated to use the new V3 JSON version.

I recommend that anyone who is using weather.com as the source for their skin take a look at:

Weather.com - Parsing the V3 JSON

And be sure you update your skin to the new V3 JSON @Include .inc files.

If you need me to change the link on your skin, please PM me with the name and new link information.

Once I have your verification that the new V3 JSON is being used and it all works ok, I will add a symbol to your entry to let users know.

Ok, I think I have fully addressed the new issues with the weather.com site.

If you have a skin that you wrote that was based on the @Include .inc files that come with my example, you can simply get this:

@IncludeFiles.zip

And copy all the .inc files from that .zip into the @Resources folder of your skin.

ONE IMPORTANT NOTE!

The new approach of using the API for the weather.com JSON requires a change to how you access a particular location.

All of the location "codes", like USVA0944 or bbd510e73cb5870f973cea9253bb1f9bfe239a129dfc2b89589cbb6d2d46b4bc or 22308 and such are NO LONGER SUPPORTED.

The new approach requires that you provide a Latitude and Longitude in the WeatherComJSONVariables.inc file. See that file for details on how you can get that for your location.

Please read WeatherCOMJSONVariables.inc carefully, it HAS changed.

NOTE: I have removed the symbol from all skins that are not verified that they have been corrected for this change. Please do PM me when you have your skin corrected, so I can "verify" it again in this list.
