This is a representation of Earth in its orbit around the Sun. Moving anticlockwise throughout the year, the skin also displays sunrise and sunset times, and shows the Moon phase after sunset. The user's location is displayed as Earth's orientation relative to the Sun, effectively making the skin a 24 hour clock as well.
It's quite large and probably isn't suitable for resolutions below 720p. Modifying the skin's size is also somewhat complex (I didn't write it with other people in mind), but I am quite happy to accommodate if anybody is interested.
The skin uses Yahoo! Weather, and was designed without consideration for time zones (though I imagine Yahoo compensates for this, and so it wouldn't have an effect). Below is the skin at two different times of year.
