dA is sort of in discussion with us through the blog http://rainmeter.deviantart.com/blog/39815806/#comments on our dA rainmeter group's profile page. I really doubt that they would send out a notice to all members.

A few of us are reporting the infected skins as soon as we find them and posting them on the blog. Morley is posting a warning screenshot http://jsmorley.deviantart.com/#/d3ebrks every day into the rainmeter gallery. I posted a screenshot http://karmat111.deviantart.com/#/d3dv4eu as well as a journal posting http://karmat111.deviantart.com/ that I will keep on my profile page as long as this is going on.

fediaFedia has done a journal posting http://fediafedia.deviantart.com/ and SN37 has done one as well http://sn37.deviantart.com/

Good thinking, catch the new ones as they come in! Can't really do anything about the ones that download RM2 from third-party sites.

Just received three notes from devstaff. They have removed the 3 skins by Fatalmmm - Omnimo, Area and Typophone that I reported. Morley, let me know if you get replies and I will update the blogs listings.

I am starting to wonder, as it usually happens with FaceBook a lot, if someone is not only creating new accounts to spread these malicious files, but also hijacking existing user accounts. The last one I saw, "figures" I believe it was called, came form a member who has had an account for about a year, I think. (I could be wrong) I sent that person a note, nothing hostile or accusatory but simply asking if perhaps their account had been hijacked recently and if not if they knew why someone else's work would have been posted under their name, possibly containing a virus of some sort.

In the end, as bad as this comes out for Rainmeter, I think DA is going to take an even harder hit being it is their site that all these malicious files are coming from. Has anyone noticed if this has been happening with skins associated with other applications? Or is it really SOLELY Rainmeter?

On a similar note, there has been little bursts of spam on the forum and I am wondering if perhaps there is any connection. Probably not but I am just trying to keep an eye out. Sorry for not reporting the spam as I see them, it takes a while for things like that to occur to me since it has been over ten years since I frequented any kind of forum.

Spam here is unrelated. It is about the same level it always was, and although a daily tedium to clean up and ban / delete users, it's not too bad. It's really just the price you pay for having a public forum for something that is even moderately popular. They come out like cockroaches.

I am wondering the same thing. It seems kind of dumb for a person who's had an account for over a year to do this. I left a message for that person, will be interesting to see if he replies. But if that is what is now happening, dA has even more problems than we thought.

I can't believe it, we've been posting about this since day one and even with our comments on the infected skins deviation page, people still download it!!!

I just looked on the new one from today $NEW$ Rainmeter Figures $HOT$ by ResylanA http://browse.deviantart.com/customization/skins/sysmonitor/rainmeter/#/d3eqkh2 and when I reported it, it had 62 downloads. Now it's had 97 downloads. Don't people read!!!!
